Why are liveness checks important?

Liveness checks help protect both you and your business by making sure every application is completed by a real person - not a bot or an impersonator. This simple step helps keep accounts secure, prevent fraud and meet important regulatory requirements.

For applicant directors, completing a liveness check is a quick and essential part of onboarding; it ensures we can verify your identity safely and efficiently, so your application can move forward without delay.


What is a liveness check?

A liveness check is a short identity verification step that confirms you’re a real, live individual. It’s designed to make onboarding smoother and more secure.


How does it work?

During the liveness check, the applicant director will:

  1. Scan a government-issued photo ID.

  2. Take a quick real-time selfie to confirm their identity.

That’s it! Once completed, your details will be securely verified and the onboarding process will continue.


For direct businesses

If you’re completing onboarding for your own business:

  1. Review your completed application form.

  2. Submit the application.

  3. Complete the liveness verification (ID scan and selfie).


For accountants onboarding clients

If you’re an accountant adding a new client in Mimo:

  1. Complete the application and send it to the applicant director for review.

  2. The applicant director will then:

    • Review the submitted information.

    • Submit the application for final approval.

    • Complete the liveness verification (ID scan and selfie).


Troubleshooting

Having trouble with ID scanning on iOS (Safari)?

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings → Safari → Camera.

  2. Allow camera access (“Always” or “Ask Every Time”).

  3. Try scanning the document again.
