Troubleshooting open banking payments

How it works

When you choose Top-up via bank in Mimo, you’re redirected to your bank to authorise the payment. The funds are then sent via open banking. For the payment to complete, Mimo needs to receive confirmation of the funds within about one hour.

What happens if it fails

If Mimo doesn’t receive the funds in time, the payment will fail. You’ll get a notification in the platform and by email. Go to the Pending tab, find the failed batch, and click Retry, select Pay by Bank, and reauthorise the payment via your bank.

Why payments may fail

  • The authorisation in the bank wasn’t fully completed

  • The account didn’t have sufficient funds

  • The bank experienced a delay in releasing the transfer

If funds did leave the account

In some cases, funds may leave your bank account but not be confirmed in time. When that happens, the payment fails in Mimo, but the funds are added to your Wallet once they arrive. From there, you can retry the payment with Wallet as payment method.

Tips for first-time payments

  • Start with a smaller transfer to avoid unnecessary delays on larger amounts.

  • If issues repeat, you can top up your Wallet by regular bank transfer and then complete the payment from there.
