Introduction

Scheduling payroll payments with Mimo is simple and efficient. After uploading your payroll file and reviewing the details, you can quickly select your preferred payment date. Follow the steps below to see how it’s done!

Upload the payroll file

To schedule a payroll payment, start by uploading the payroll file to the Mimo Platform. To do this, navigate to the Pay tab in your Mimo Account and click Upload Payroll in the upper right corner. You can either drag and drop your file or select it manually. Supported file formats include BACS, TXT, CSV, and XLSX. Alternatively, you can download our payroll template for easy formatting.

Map and preview columns

After uploading your payroll file, you can match each table column to the corresponding column in your file. You’ll also be able to use checkboxes to specify whether the file includes a header row and whether the amounts are in cents. You can easily preview and adjust the columns as needed before proceeding.

Verify Payees

Mimo verifies payees to ensure payments are sent to the correct individuals and accounts. For new beneficiaries (those you haven’t paid before), a Confirmation of Payee check will show a status: match, close match, no match, or invalid/failed. If there’s no match, the account couldn’t be found and you won’t be able to proceed. Once you’ve reviewed and resolved any issues, you can continue to Review & Pay.

Payment date

The final step is to review and pay. You can name the payroll and choose a future payment date by selecting it from the calendar. Then, select an approval workflow—either an existing one or, if you’re an admin, create a new custom workflow.

Payment method

Next, choose your payment method: either Pay by Bank (Open Banking), where funds are withdrawn immediately even if scheduled for later, or Mimo Balance, in which case you’ll need to ensure sufficient funds are available before the scheduled date. Payments are processed early on the chosen day, and same-day payments are typically transferred within minutes.
