What is account mapping?

Account mapping links your Mimo payment account with your accounting software, ensuring all transactions are automatically categorised and reconciled. This helps streamline your financial operations and reduces manual work.

Setting up account mapping

Once your onboarding application is approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email. On your first login, you’ll be guided through the Activation Guide to help you get set up quickly—account mapping is a key step in this process.

You’ll be prompted to add Mimo Balance as a bank account in your accounting software. A default account name and code will be pre-filled, but you can edit them to match your naming preferences. Once added, Mimo uses these accounts for automated reconciliation.

Xero vs. QuickBooks

With Xero, Mimo marks invoices as paid and sends bank feeds for automatic reconciliation. With QuickBooks, Mimo marks invoices as paid, but bank feeds aren’t sent. Transactions can be exported from Mimo for manual reconciliation.Imp

Managing account mapping

To update account mapping after setup, log in to Mimo and go to Settings > Reconciliation. There you can view and edit existing mappings for both Mimo Balance and Mimo Flex accounts (if applicable).

Add new account

If you add a new transaction type—such as a EUR Mimo Balance account or start using Mimo Flex—you can create new mappings directly under Settings > Reconciliation. Just follow the prompts to assign it to the right account in your accounting software.

Delete existing account

You can delete mappings that are no longer in use by selecting the delete option next to the entry. However, we recommend not disconnecting the bank feed entirely, as reconnecting it later may cause duplicate transactions.
