Create and manage accruals

Accruals are expense-side adjustments used to recognise costs in the correct period when the invoice hasn't arrived yet. They get trued up when the actual invoice lands.

Accrual suggestions

Accruals sit inside Review & Adjust and are suggested as part of the P&L variance analysis. Mimo surfaces accrual suggestions by analysing journal entries across accounts and identifying patterns that look like missing or late costs.

Accrual suggestions update in real time as the month-end close progresses and new entries land. Suggestions are also influenced by client context and history:

  • Client context: Manage per-client preferences and add specific accrual suggestions from the Home view.

  • Historical accruals: Previous accruals for the client help inform what Mimo is likely to recommend.

  • Your feedback: Accepting or dismissing a suggestion helps tune future suggestions.

You can find accrual suggestions both in the P&L variance analysis view and in the dedicated Accruals view under the Adjustments page.


Managing accruals in the schedule

All suggestions flow into a clear accrual schedule, where you can:

  • Create an accrual from a suggestion

  • Add a manual accrual

  • Set up ongoing accruals

  • Choose to reverse an accrual automatically in the following month
